Rufous-tailed Jacamar

Silent Predation

These Costa Rican birds look a lot like large hummingbirds but are more like a flycatcher. They sit on a perch looking up for insects. When they see potential prey they fly up, catch their prey and fly back to their perch. This gave me the idea of incorporating the cryptic eyelash viper hidden in the foliage beneath the keen eyed jacamars.
